Gold Mine in Chinatown was just what we needed after a long day in London. Despite the queue, we were seated quickly as a table for two was available. The egg fried rice, prawn dumplings, beef ho fun and pork siu mai were all freshly made, flavorful and comforting. The beef ho fun soup was tasty, but we expected more broth—the noodles seemed overcooked and absorbed most of it, leaving us with almost none. Still, for Asians like us, it felt like a taste of home. It’s not fancy, but the quality and flavors make it worth the price especially when in London. A great spot for a satisfying meal!

One of the best! After all these years, Gold Mine still serves up classic Chinese in a traditional style restaurant, bustling with customers and staff. Don’t expect a quiet vibe. This is a full-on Chinatown experience! I recommend the dim sum menu. It’s one of the best I’ve had in London and that’s saying something after living in Hong Kong for 4 years. The siu mai are exceptional!

Came around 6.15pm and were seated immediately. Roast duck was sooo good, the skin is crispy and the seasoning just right. The century egg porridge was average, it’s more like rice than congee. The pork ribs soup was sadly just one bowl and very one dimensional, but the pork ribs were cooked till soft.

Dim sum is good. The portion of dishes are quite big. The roast duck is a must order. Overall we like it a lot and would love to visit again if we’re craving for dim sum.

Gold Mine has been around since my student days over a decade ago, and coming back feels like a warm, familiar hug. Maybe it’s nostalgia, or maybe it’s just missing proper Asian food while travelling, but this place still hits the spot every time. The portions are generous, the roast duck is perfectly fatty and comforting, and the roast pork? Unreal. The crispiest skin ever—exactly how it should be. And the fried rice? It actually tastes better than it looks. Some places just stay with you, and for me, Gold Mine is one of them.

It’s a small restaurant and sister branch of the original in Bayswater famed for their roast duck. No frills place and seating is cramp but food is great, service is brisk and friendly. Salted egg yolk coated fried chicken wings is also recommended. Won’t stop coming in future...
